Time waits for no man

Blimey, three weeks and counting! I still have so much to do. I've just made a rather hefty list of things to build and animate, plus the impending Framestore hand-in on friday. I have animated Fred and Knitwit fighting over a teddy, and not only did I manage to complete it very quickly, it seems to work really rather well. This makes me extremely happy as I considered it to be possibly my hardest piece of animation. It involves the pair of them stretching the teddy, and that is an animation challenge. Plain sailing from here? I doubt it. Awfully sorry, no clips to show you here. There has to be some surprise at my degree show.

I'm going to REALLY miss this course. It's been wonderful. I hope I can get a job. (A good job).

I'm switching off for the night now. Aah, sweet sleep. No doubt I'll be up at 6.00 again tomorrow. I keep doing it, but it's a great time to sort out technical hitches and do some very valuable work.

Goodnight.

Truly, Madly Knitwit

He is finally, really, properly finished. I've added set driven keys to his hands for maximum gripping and saluting ability.

Beach Render Tests

Here are a couple of test renders of the beach scene. I think the clouds a welcome addition, and I'm very happy with my simple lighthouse. Surely all boys find them in some way interesting.

To light this scene I have used just 3 point lights. Matt the Beale helped me try out some global illumination. This however took several minutes to render one frame, and that's when it wasn't making the stupid computer crash. The above was achieved with just the 3 lights and a bit of tweaking in the render and light settings.

The clouds moving slowly across the sky should bring the whole shot nicely to life, and the shadow on the hill makes it more interesting.

Photoshop adjustment

Maybe a little too much red, but this is the kind of adjustment I am considering for the final look of my film. Hmm, nice.

3 on a train

Here, at last, our three protagonists are fully rigged, textured and ready to go. Woohoo. And our blockout is cool.
